Quarkonium : game overview

What is Quarkonium ?

Quarkonium is a pc video game inspired by the Amiga version of Speedball 2.
It's a violent futuristic sport close to handball.
The project began in November 2013 and the game is currently in beta version.

What are the main feature of Quarkonium ?

The first objective was to create a fun arcade game similar to the original Speedball 2 game, including all the key points of this version :
  • A cool design of the players (which is not the case in the most recent speedball games)
  • Very dynamic action
  • A lot of violence
The gameplay of the original Speedball 2 was limited due to the single button joysticks. For instance it was impossible to decide between jump and tackle, The choice was automatically done depending on the context.
Quarkonium is designed for standard controlers with 2 sticks, 4 buttons and triggers, This adds a lot of new possibilities. Here is a few examples :
  • The owner of ball can jump or attack
  • Air play : it's possible to launch the ball or attack during a jump
  • The buttons associated with the triggers activate special actions : dash, teleportation, various projectile shots, time slowing, telekinesis...
  • The right stick can be used to move secondary players independently from the main player. It can also be used for ball control.

When will Quarkonim be released ?

The pc release (for Windows) is scheduled for the end of 2016

How much will it cost ?

The price of Quarkonium is not defined yet, probably about 10$.

However, for those who dont' want to be charged for it or those who can't pay it will be possible to get the game for free.
